Dear Parents,
Catholic Education Week for the Sale Diocese begins tomorrow, Friday, 21st May and continues until Friday, 28th May. This year is the bicentennial of Catholic Education in Australia, with the first Catholic school being established in Paramatta in October 1820. This year’s theme for the Diocese of Sale is, “Faith in the future – I have come that they may have life and have it to the full”, which is a combination of a quote from John’s Gospel and the theme for the bicentennial of Catholic Education in Australia. DOSCEL Director, Maria Kirkwood, states that “during Catholic Education Week we are reminded that Jesus is the good shepherd who invites us to be the best people we can be. In all we do in Catholic schools, we strive to help each person experience the love of God, thus enabling them to live life fully. This year’s theme reflects the core purpose of Catholic education, which is to provide an education that enables our students to make a meaningful contribution to the world, and enable them to enter into a life-giving relationship with God”.
Tomorrow’s launch of Catholic Education Week begins with a Mass at St Michael’s Church, Traralgon, celebrated by Bishop Greg, for school leaders throughout the Diocese.
Catholic Education Week at St Mary’s will involve an Open Day on Monday, 24th May. I encourage all new and existing parents to visit our school, where you will be taken on a tour. These tours will allow you to see our classrooms in action and the amazing opportunities we have to offer here at St Mary’s. If you know of any friends or family who may be interested in sending their children to St Mary’s, now or in the future, please encourage them to make an appointment for a tour on Monday, 24th May or at a time that suits them best.

For your baptism day, may God grant you always
A sunbeam to warm you, a moonbeam to charm you
A sheltering angel so nothing can harm you
Laughter to cheer you, faithful friends near you
And whenever you pray
Heaven to hear you.
Congratulations Jikaya on your Baptism.
