Dear Parents and Friends of St Mary’s,
We celebrated World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation with a beautiful Mass led by our Grade 5-6 students. Through prayer and song, we told the story of creation, celebrated the wonders of the world and reflected on how precious and fragile our world is.
To all the amazing Dads, Granddads, and significant men in our lives. We wish you all a very happy and restful day on Sunday, we are so grateful for all the time and effort you give to your beautiful children.
See you all tomorrow morning for our Fathers’ Day breakfast.
Kind Regards,
Maria

Religious News
Thank you to Ms. Haughie and Grades Five and Six for leading us in our Mass Celebration of World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation. This annual day, established by Pope Francis in 2015, is an opportunity to pray, reflect and act to care for God’s creation.
This World Day of Prayer also falls at the beginning of the Season of Creation, which runs until 4 October, the feast of St Francis of Assisi. This is an ecumenical season ( all Christian Churches worldwide), dedicated to prayer for the protection of creation and the promotion of sustainable lifestyles.
There are many ways we can respond to Pope Francis’ call to care for the gift of God’s creation – why not take some time out of your day to walk in your local park or take a few moments to thank God for the flowers growing in your garden? Or, take time to sit quietly or read a book or a prayer in a special place of God’s Creation. Or take time to look at the faces of your beautiful children and see the love they have for you.
I found this beautiful prayer by Rachel Mc Carthy.
Praised Be
Living God,
have mercy on us,
for the times we forget
that we belong to each other.
You call us to be still,
to hear the whisper of our Sister Wind,
to feel the radiance of our Brother Sun,
and to be nourished by our Mother Earth.
Renew us in your healing love.
Inspire us to water the earth,
and nurture one another,
so all may flourish.
Together, as one family,
may we always sing your praise.
Through Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Our beautiful world has many gifts for us, but we need to remember to care for this gift so that it can also be a gift for our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On Friday, 9th September, the Grades 5/6 students will be leading us in a liturgy for the whole school. All are welcome to join us.
Andrew Chinn
We are very excited that Andrew Chinn is coming to St Mary’s Catholic Primary School on Wednesday the 14th of September. Andrew is the creator of many of the songs that we sing at Liturgies and School Masses. Some of his songs are; These Hands, Rainbow, In the Beginning, We are God’s Hands and God made them all. The children will work with Andrew to learn and practise some of his songs throughout the day. There will be a Whole School Concert from 2:10pm – 3:10pm in the Mary Mackillop Hall. All parents and families are invited to come along to see what their children have been working on through the day. It is always a very exciting concert. Please put this date in your diary.
Kind Regards
Sue Benc
Last week, as part of our Book Week celebrations, our students got into groups and worked together on decorating these gorgeously vibrant posters with all the things that made them feel happy.
Students from our middle-grade classroom made little versions of their Book Week costumes and wrote about their characters. These adorable characters are happy to welcome you as you walk into our school.
Congratulations to Bianca Barlow on winning the Tarra Award for her poetry at the Yarram Eisteddfod for the U12 & U15 category.
Well done, we are all very proud of you!

SchoolTV Special Report - Bored Children Doesn't Mean Bad Parenting and Encourages Creativity
Do you scrunch your face in frustration when your hear your child mutter the dreaded phrase, “I’m bored”?
Take a deep breath and unclench your fists — guess what? Being bored is actually good for children and not a sign of bad parenting. Psychologists report children are bombarded with constant entertainment through technology, bedrooms full of toys and a schedule of activities that would make the Prime Minister’s head spin.
Incorporating The Dinomaniacs original songs like ‘Rock & Roar’, “The Dino Dr” and “Dance with the Dinosaurs” together with some all-time classic toe-tapping tunes that are sure to have everyone up and dancing.
There are plenty of surprises, songs, jokes and dancing, as well as exciting opportunities for the audience to get up close and personal with the dinosaurs.
