Dear Parents and Friends of St Mary’s,
We are busily preparing for the Eisteddfod with all the students practising plays, recitations and vocal groups. I have watched costumes coming together; props designed and painted ready for an exciting Eisteddfod experience.
We have the opportunity to visit the Regent Theatre for practice on Tuesday, July 26th, from 11:30 am. We will send out a permission note today and kindly ask that these may be returned to school by Monday, July 25th.
We have our school photos on Monday, July 25th, and I ask that all students are in their full winter uniform, with black school shoes, blue ribbons and correct jewellery.
We have a beautiful uniform so let’s wear it correctly.
For positive connections between home and school, it is imperative that if you have any
concerns, please make an appointment with me to discuss any issues. We, as staff, cannot help students if we are unaware of situations that may occur during a school day.
We celebrated a wonderful opening term mass this morning, and the students led confidently as they read and shared their thoughts about creation and their unique gifts.
Stay safe,
Maria.

SCHOOL TV SPECIAL REPORT - Six ways to raise a resilient child
Helping our children navigate the stresses and strains of daily life is more important than ever. Figures released in November last year by NHS Digital show a worrying rise in young people’s mental health problems; sadly, my experience as a GP confirms this. One in eight children aged between 5 and 19 in England has a diagnosable mental health condition; the prevalence of emotional disorders, including anxiety and depression, has risen by 48% since 2004. “The pressures young people face range from school stress, bullying and worries about job and housing prospects, to concerns around body image,” says Emma Saddleton, helpline manager at the charity YoungMinds....
