Dear Parents and Friends of St Mary’s,
Welcome back to Term Two at St Mary’s! We have a nine-week term, and the calendar is beginning to fill up quickly with events and activities, which are exciting as we embrace normality in our day to day interactions. I hope you had an opportunity to relax and enjoy the magnificent weather on offer, especially throughout the Easter weekend.
Yarram was a buzz over the Easter weekend, and the carnival at the the Yarram Recreation Reserve proved to be a fun time for families. I would like to thank Chanel Bowden and Debbie Isemann for their time and effort in making our “Lucky Jars” a huge success. Many hours of collecting items and time given on the day is very much appreciated.
We had a fantastic turnout for the Yarram ANZAC Day March and ceremony on Monday, and the sun shone brightly for us all. I would like to thank all the students who proudly represented St Mary’s and the respectful manner in which they conducted themselves as we paid tribute to the brave women and men who fought so courageously for our country's safety.
We farewelled an excited and somewhat nervous bunch of Grade 5/6 campers ready for three days in Melbourne. They boarded the bus at 6:45 am, making their way to the Traralgon train station, ready for some action-packed days exploring the many sights of Melbourne. I would like to thank Hope, Anthony and Jo for giving up their time to make this camp a memorable experience for the students.
Kind regards,
Maria

Establishing rules, exercising discipline, enhancing positive behaviour.
If we think our kids haven’t worked us out by the time they get to school age, we need to think again. If we think our kids don’t know where they stand when it comes to home rules, we also need to think again.Seriously. Permissive, indulgent parenting isn’t about to do our kids any favours –it can also leave us powerless...

Religion News: The Season of Easter: The Season of Glory
Easter is not just a day or a weekend. It is a whole season that lasts seven weeks, it's a season of 50 days, derived in its length from the fifty days between Passover and Pentecost (which means fiftieth) in Judaism. Easter season begins at sunset on the eve of Easter and ends with Pentecost, the day we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the Church.
Today, this extended season gives us time to rejoice and experience what we mean when we say Christ is risen and that we, as the church, are the body of the Risen Lord. It’s a season for focusing on the core doctrines and mysteries of the faith and for preparing for the ministries the Spirit has empowered us to undertake in Jesus’ name.
Kind Regards
