Dear Families and Friends of St Mary’s,
On Monday, we farewelled our Grade Three and Four students alongside Mr Sheedy and Jo to Forest Lodge Camp. The students’ excitement was evident in the chatter and eagerness to enjoy every aspect of camp life. I visited throughout their time and was greeted with tales of the giant swing, bush cooking and canoeing. Thank You to Anthony and Jo for making the camp a fun and memorable experience for all the students. The time given, away from your families is genuinely appreciated. I would also like to thank Janette for providing the time to ferry students to and from the camp…. Thank you!
We are busily nearing the end of Term One, with all students preparing for our Easter Liturgy, end of term activities and classroom assessments. All events are on our school calendar, so please take the time to familiarise yourself with what is coming up.

PIRANHAS DON'T EAT BANANAS!
Our Junior Class have been reading the delightfully funny book Piranhas Don't Eat Bananas and have doing colouring and word- to- picture matching activities.
Our Grade 3/4 students had a wonderful time at camp, they returned home, safe and very tired after an amazing three days at camp, filled with an impressive array of exciting activities. From canoeing and archery to hut building, flying fox and the giant swing; they even had a disco evening.
Will Smith hit Chris Rock. What do we tell our kids?
This week, the biggest news event wasnʼt war in Ukraine, floods on Australiaʼs East Coast, or even COVID surges. Instead, it was
a story of an angry celebrity (Will Smith) storming the Oscars stage and hitting the comedian (Chris Rock) who made an
ordinary joke at the expense of the angry mad manʼs wife (Jada Pinkett Smith). And everybody is talking about it. Including
our children.
How do we talk to our children about this incident?
The Easter Country Fair is on Saturday, 16th April, from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Yarram Recreation Reserve.
Please contact Debbie at the school office if you are able to help.
