RE NEWS
Today we welcome the Most Reverend Gregory Bennet to our school. Bishop Gregory is the tenth Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sale. Pope Francis appointed Bishop Gregory as the Bishop of Sale in 2020 but he has not been able to come to Yarram due to the pandemic. It has been quite a few years since the Bishop of Sale has come to our school to meet our beautiful children.
I am sure the children will have many questions to ask Bishop Gregory. Perhaps one such question is “What does a Bishop do?”
In the Catholic Church there are three levels of ordination within the sacrament of Holy Orders: Deacon, Priest and Bishop. The primary role of any Bishop is to ensure the work of Christ is carried out at the local level by caring for the people entrusted to him in his particular Diocese. Often the Bishop is referred to as the Chief Shepherd since his ministry is modelled on that of Christ the Good Shepherd. The role of the Bishop is not simply that of ‘governing’ the church, but caring for it and nurturing it.
Bishop Gregory will be in Yarram until Sunday and will celebrate Sunday Mass with us.
Kind Regards
Sue Benc
The School Uniform Shop is open Mondays to Fridays 8.30am to 3.30pm
We will be transitioning into our Winter Uniforms in Term 2. If you would like to order a Winter Tunic, kindly let Debbie know as it is more practical than to stock large numbers of them.
How to help your child be a good friend
Winnie the Pooh once said that “a day without a friend is like a pot without a single drop of honey inside,” and my bet is that when he said this, that he wasn't talking about any friend, he was talking about a good friend.
Being a good friend and knowing what a good friend entails is an integral component of friendship. Research says that kids start making meaningful friendships from around the age of four and from that point onwards, friendships will contribute to their wellbeing, learning, confidence and mental health.
But understanding what a good friend is can be tricky, so here are some strategies you can use to help explain what being a good friend means to your child and how they can be one.
