Dear Families and Friends of St Mary’s,
As I have made my way through all the classrooms this week, I have witnessed students attempting new concepts with an open and engaging mindset.
Our School-Wide Expectation for Term One is “Be a Learner”, and through our assemblies and liturgies, we are celebrating what that means to all in our St Mary’s school community.
I met with our 2022 SRC for the first time this year, and our first fundraising event for Caritas is a St Mary’s disco. All money raised will go to supporting Project Compassion - Supporting Future Generations.
The disco will coincide with our Physical Education sessions, and I look forward to seeing some impressive dance moves by students and staff.
I am thrilled that our Grade 3-4 camp has been given the green light. We are in the process of finalising documentation and parent information.
Have a lovely weekend.
Maria

The School Uniform Shop is open Mondays to Fridays 8.30am to 3.30pm
We will be transitioning into our Winter Uniforms in Term 2. If you would like to order a Winter Tunic, kindly let Debbie know as it is more practical than to stock large numbers of them.
SCHOOL DISCO
The SRC has chosen to organise a School Disco on Thursday, 3rd March to start their fundraising for this year.
Timings are as follows:
Foundation - Grade 3 - 1:30 - 2:00
Grades 4 - 6 - 2:15 - 2:45
Students will be in sports uniforms and will not need to bring a change of clothes.
Entry is $5 per child which includes a drinki, a snack and glow sticks.
All money raised will go to the Caritas Australia Project Compassion Appeal.
Donations to Project Compassion allows Caritas Australia, the Catholic Agency for International Aid and Development, to work with local communities around the world to alleviate poverty, hunger, oppression and injustice.
Building strong working relationships with teachers
Studies show that healthy parent–teacher relationships are a more significant factor in student success than parent income levels or social status. Parent–teacher relationships require effort and energy from both parties if they are going to really benefit
children and young people. These key strategies will help you build a healthy working relationship with teachers in the year ahead.
School Swimming Program
The Water Familiarisation Program was a wonderful success and ended with a sausage sizzle lunch.
Thank you to Ms. Heather Flynn for organising and planning this program; and to Ms. Jessie Smith and all our staff for their time and effort.
Love
In the Bible, we find many scripture references to love. I have included a few this week.
Do everything in love. One Corinthians 16:14
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. We love because he first loved us. One John 4: 18-19
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Ephesians 4:2
Our theme during Term One continues to be ‘Love.’ Love of self, love of each
other, our neighbours and God. Out of Love God gave us his son Jesus, to teach us how to love.
Home Activity: If you get some quiet time together as a family over the weekend, you could write down all the ways your family shows its love to each other. You can send them into me if you want to.
Kind Regards
Sue Benc
