Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,
Here we are again living with the routines and demands of Remote Learning with our children. We are facing challenges together as a school community. The creative manner in which staff have planned across the Google Classroom platform engages the students through meaningful tasks and activities. It was lovely to join the Google Meets across the school today and touch base with students. Their smiles and conversations displayed their resilience and confidence during Remote Learning.
The mental health of our families is paramount at this time, so please go gently with yourselves, and take the time to enjoy physical activity during the day, and some fun activities with your children, such as cooking, painting and some movie time.
This week is Book Week, and the theme for this year is Old Worlds, New Worlds and Other Worlds.
I look forward to catching up with students on their Google Meets this Friday to see their fabulous Book Week costumes.
Take care and stay well.
Maria
We are very pleased to announce that Debbie Isemann will be joining our St Mary's staff team. Debbie will be taking on the roll as Administrative Officer while Heather Leemon take 12 months off.
We look forward to Debbie starting with us at the start of Term 4.

Building resilience during the COVID pandemic
The pandemic continues to bring worry and anxiety to children and young people. Resilience can help kids get through these
diicult times, but it is not something they are born with. Resilience is built up over time as kids interact with the environment
and each other. Emerging relatively unscathed from a setback or hardship can boost future resilience. On the other hand, if
experiences are too overwhelming or stressful, kids can be traumatised, making it diicult to respond with future hardships with
resilience.
Upcoming Webinar for Parents
Dr Kristy Goodwin presents: Taming digital distractions
The webinar will be held on 8 September 2021 at 8-9 PM AEST.
Dr Kristy Goodwin is a digital wellbeing and peak-performance speaker, author and researcher (and mum who also deals with her kids’ techno-tantrums!) She’s the author of Raising Your Child in a Digital World, and a media commentator who doesn’t suggest that we ban the iPhone, or unplug the gaming console (digital abstinence isn’t the solution). Kristy worked as an educator for fourteen years before becoming an academic and speaker who’s on a mission to help children, teens and
adults tame their technology habits so they’re not a slave to the screen.
This school has a membership with Parenting Ideas, one of Australia’s most trusted sources of parenting education and support. As part of this membership, all the parents in this school
community can attend this webinar at no cost.

Many in our school community continue to face financial impacts as a result of the COVID-1 pandemic.
We are committed to supporting families experiencing financial challenges through
our School Fee Concession programs, and encourage any parent/carer/guardian experiencing difficulties to contact us regarding fee assistance.
Please contact Heather at hleemon@stmyarram.catholic.edu.au to explore confidential financial support arrangements or to obtain further information.
Our on-site students had a welcomed visit from Daisy Lucille. The students were able to have a play with Daisy outside and extra cuddles made for a happy afternoon.
