Dear Parents Guardians and Carers,
We have had a fantastic week of performances at the Sixtieth Yarram Eisteddfod. I would
like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the students on how they conducted
themselves walking to and from the theatre and the enthusiastic approach to participating in
Vocal Groups, Recitations and our One-Act Play.
Well Done, Everyone!
To all the staff, I extend my gratitude for the positive approach and enthusiasm during the
uncertainty of COVID times. The effort to prepare students was evident in the smiles and
excited chatter from students walking on and off the stage.
I would like to share some responses from students about their experiences this week
Eisteddfod Week
By Lilly Kidd
I love the Eisteddfod because you get to have a go at something new and different.
You could even get a place with your poem, song and play.
The most important thing is to have a go.
When you get up on the stage, it builds your confidence, and that’s very
important.
Eisteddfod Week
By Lyla Banfield
I like the Eisteddfod because it gives students a chance to gain confidence.
I felt scared walking onto the stage, but I learnt from that, and I am proud of my
achievements.
When I talked to other students, they felt the same, and it is important to share
how you feel.
The Grade Three and Four camp to Phillip Island will take place this Monday, 23rd of
August, to Wednesday, 25th August. The children have been eagerly awaiting this calendar event, and we are thrilled that they can go. The staff members joining the students will be Anthony Sheedy, Jo Griffiths and myself. Having participated in the camp before, I can guarantee that the students will have a fantastic time and come back suitably exhausted!
Enjoy a relaxing week.
Maria.

Prioritising mental health in the digital world
Whilst there may not yet be conclusive evidence linking digital media use to poor mental health outcomes there’s no denying that
it’s one of the chief concerns facing parents and educators of children and adolescents, growing up in a digital world. The
contradictory research findings confirm that this is a complex topic.

Jump Rope for Heart kicks off this term!
Jump Rope for Heart is a fantastic physical activity and fundraising program that has been run by the Heart Foundation for over 36 years. It’s a great way for your child to keep fit and learn new skills, but it also helps raise funds for vital heart research and education programs.
Since Jump Rope for Heart started in 1983, schools like ours have raised more than $104 million for the Heart Foundation’s lifesaving work.
It’s important you register your child online, so they can receive the full benefits of the program and participate in the online fundraising, simply follow the link below to get started. www.jumprope.org.au/parents
Students will be skipping throughout the term in PE lessons, reccess & lunch breaks During this time you can share their online fundraising page with family and friends to help raise money for this great cause.
We will hold our school Jump Off Day on Tuesday 14th September 2021, this will mark the end of the program and is a chance for everyone to come together to skip and show off their newly learned skills.
Thank you for supporting the Jump Rope for Heart program!
Our Children have been so enthusiastic skipping at recess and lunchtime.
