Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,
Here we are after yet another disruptive week on the COVID landscape. Thank you to everyone for your resilience and patience throughout this time.
Our School Wide approach to Positive behaviours focuses on four pillars. Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be a Learner. The St Mary’s School Community reflects on these throughout our Assemblies and Liturgies providing the students and staff an opportunity to celebrate the behaviours of students and focus on areas that require discussion and reflection. Over the next four weeks our focus will be on ‘Be Safe’ which will highlight the importance of child safety within our school. Students will be given the opportunity to explore what this looks, feels and sounds like within their classroom and on the playground.
Enjoy your weekend and stay safe.
Regards,
Maria
In the junior grade we have been exploring texts that relate to gardens. The students have created stunning pieces of work, that’s eye catching and detailed. Well done junior grade, you should be very proud.
The Yarram Eisteddfod is scheduled for 17th August to 20th August. At this stage we are unsure whether St. Mary's school students will be attending in person, as we are still awaiting permission from DOSCEL. If the decision is made that we cannot attend, all performances will be recorded at St. Mary's and submitted to the Eisteddfod adjudicators. More information will be sent home once a decision has been made.

The language of respectful relationships
“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.”
This reply to playground name-calling has been taught to children by generations of parents. While the sentiments are true, it
demonstrates how destructive language can be when it’s used to hurt or humiliate
Jump Rope for Heart kicks off this term!
Jump Rope for Heart is a fantastic physical activity and fundraising program that has been run by the Heart Foundation for over 36 years. It’s a great way for your child to keep fit and learn new skills, but it also helps raise funds for vital heart research and education programs.
Since Jump Rope for Heart started in 1983, schools like ours have raised more than $104 million for the Heart Foundation’s lifesaving work.
It’s important you register your child online, so they can receive the full benefits of the program and participate in the online fundraising, simply follow the link below to get started. www.jumprope.org.au/parents
Students will be skipping throughout the term in PE lessons, reccess & lunch breaks During this time you can share their online fundraising page with family and friends to help raise money for this great cause.
We will hold our school Jump Off Day on Tuesday 14th September 2021, this will mark the end of the program and is a chance for everyone to come together to skip and show off their newly learned skills.
Thank you for supporting the Jump Rope for Heart program!
Our Children have been so enthusiastic skipping at recess and lunchtime, learning new tricks and having lots of fun.
