Dear Parents,
On Monday your child will have brought home a copy of the St Mary’s Code of Conduct for you to read, sign and return to school. The Code of Conduct is intended to promote child safety in our school environment and outlines acceptable and unacceptable adult/child relationships and behaviours. St Mary’s takes the safety of all our children very seriously and it is a requirement of the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA), that all staff, parents and visitors sign the Code of Conduct on a yearly basis. It would be greatly appreciated if you could please return your signed Code of Conduct form to the front office as soon as possible.
On Monday, you will have also received information regarding the use of social media in relation to the school. The information contained in these sheets are relevant to the entire school community of St Mary’s. Please read the information carefully and familiarise yourself with the expectations surrounding the use of social media. It is imperative that you demonstrate respectful and responsible behaviours when communicating with and about our school or members of the school community.
Lucky Jars Casual Day
Thank you for your kind donations of Lucky Jars on Monday for our casual clothes day. The effort and thought that went into creating these jars was amazing! Your donations will help to raise much needed funds for our school at the St Mary’s Lucky Jar stall at the Yarram Easter Carnival.
Easter Raffle Casual Clothes Day
This Monday, 22nd March is another casual clothes day for all students at St Mary’s. All students are asked to bring in an Easter egg or Easter themed gift as a donation for our St Mary’s Easter raffle. This has always been a fantastic fundraiser for the school and your support is greatly appreciated.
AFL Football Clinic
Next Thursday, 25th March, all students at St Mary’s will be involved in a football clinic. The clinic, co-ordinated by AFL Victoria will give the students a taste of football in a safe and fun way. Students can wear a football jumper on the day (if they have one), or alternatively just their sports uniform.
Whole School Mass
On Thursday, 25th March, St Mary’s also has a whole school mass. The mass will be prepared by our Grade 2/3 students and will have a Holy Week Theme. It would be great to see lots of you at the mass to share in this celebration. Due to the football clinic being on the same day, mass will be at 11:30am.
Stations of the Cross/Easter Raffle/Assembly
On Thursday, 1st April (the last day of Term 1), the Grade 4/5/6 students will present the Stations of the Cross at 11:30am in the Mary MacKillop Hall. The Stations of the Cross depict Jesus’ final days on Earth. Following the Stations of the Cross, we will have a whole school assembly, where the Easter Raffle will be drawn. I invite all our St Mary’s families, parish and wider community to this event.
Kind regards,
Joel

Dear Parents,
Information on Safeguarding Children and Young People Code of Conduct was sent home with students on Monday.
If you did not receive the letter please contact the school office for a copy or sign the declaration below and return to the school Office.
The Safeguarding Children and Young People Code of Conduct forms one part of implementing the Victorian Child Safe Standards, set out in Ministerial Order No.870 and is required to be signed by all parents.
The new ministerial order impacts on all adults working, volunteering and visiting our school.
All parents and carers of children at St Mary’s, are asked to sign that they have read the attached documents and are aware of the expectations set out within it. This acknowledgement is to be returned to school.
Further details regarding our Child Protection and Safety Policy are available on our website.

CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA DAY @ ST MARY'S
A huge THANK YOU to all who contributed to Clean up our school Day last Friday. On a very hot day we all worked hard together and the results look fantastic. It was nice to stop and enjoy a sausage or two and a nice cold icypole when the work was finished.
Dear Parents,
Social Media has become a popular form of communication, both socially and to keep connected with the school. As a parent, you are your child’s first role model when it comes to online behaviour. It is imperative that you be a positive role model in this area by demonstrating respectful and responsible behaviours when communicating with and about our school.
Please find attached an advice sheet from the Department of Education and Training titled, Social Media and Your School. Despite this being a State Government initiative, the information contained in the sheets is relevant to the entire school community here at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School.
Please read the advice sheets carefully and familiarise yourself with the expectations surrounding social media and schools.
If you have any questions or concerns relating to the attached information, please feel free to contact myself or another member of staff to discuss your concerns.
Kind regards,
Joel Brayshaw
