Dear Parents,
We have all had a fabulous week at St Mary’s. It is amazing how a little bit of sun and warm weather puts a spring in your step.
In the classroom, the students have been working hard to complete a variety of activities and assessments. These work samples and assessments provide evidence to demonstrate what each child has achieved, the progress they have made and what skills they need to continue to develop.
Parent/Teacher Interviews
Parent/Teacher Interviews will be held this Wednesday, 25th November. These interviews are a great opportunity to build a strong parent and school partnership, which supports student learning. If you would like to meet with your child’s teacher but have not made an appointment yet, please do so ASAP.
School Advisory Committee
On Tuesday night we had our final School Advisory Committee meeting for 2020. As a committee, we have met twice a term throughout the year, with the role of the committee being to act as an advisory body to the principal. I would like to thank all the parents who have attended the committee meetings throughout the year for their support and commitment to our school.
Foundation Transition Days/Parent Information Session
Next Tuesday, 24th November we have our final Foundation Transition Day. At 11:30am on this day, we also look forward to welcoming the parents for an information session.
Grade 6 Graduation Mass
The Grade 6 Graduation Mass will be on Thursday, 10th December at 9:30am, outside the church. Due to COVID restrictions, only the Grade 6 students, some staff and their parents are able to attend. At the mass, the Grade 6 award recipients will be presented with their awards and those families that are leaving the school will be farewelled.
Grade 6 Graduation Ceremony
The Grade 6 Graduation Ceremony will also be held on Thursday, 10th December. This ceremony will be held in the school hall and will involve lunch, a slideshow presentation and student speeches about their time at St Mary’s. Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions, parents are unable to attend, however we are looking into ways that we can record or live stream the event, so that parents can be part of the day.
Excursion for Grade 6
We are currently in the process of organising a Grade 6 excursion to celebrate their time at St Mary’s. The date that we have set aside is, Friday, 11th December. We are still waiting on approval from DOSCEL for this excursion, however you will receive more information regarding this excursion soon.
School Colour Run
The St Mary’s School Colour Run is on Friday, 4th December at 2:00pm. Due to COVID restrictions, only students and staff are able to attend. Students are to wear their sports shorts with a white (or light coloured) t-shirt. Throughout the Colour Run, students may get wet and covered in coloured chalk so students may benefit from bringing an old towel to dry off and clean themselves up. This is a fundraising event for our school, however there is no pressure on families to donate large amounts of money. Every little donation helps, so ask your close friends and family if they can help out. As mentioned in the letter that went out earlier, fundraising can only be done through cash donations or bank transfer and not online. All funds raised need to be brought to school by Friday, 11th December.
Planning for 2021
Planning for 2021 is well underway. Information regarding 2021 will be provided to all families in the coming weeks.
Kind regards,
Joel
