Dear Parents,

I hope that you all enjoyed the beautiful weather over the Melbourne Cup long weekend together as a family. It is great to see the sun shining and the weather warming up. As the weather warms up, your child will be taking their jumper off more often throughout the school day. As we all know, some children are not always good at putting their things away, so there are often jumpers lying around the classrooms and yard. Please remember to clearly name your child’s jumper so that there are no lost jumpers and they can be easily returned. Please also remember that all students are required to wear a hat at recess and lunchtime and during outdoor activities. As a SunSmart school, children without a hat will need to play in the undercover areas.

We are approaching the mid-point of Term 4 and planning for 2021 is well underway. To support this process, we are asking any family who is leaving at the end of the year to make contact with me or Heather in the next couple of weeks.

Foundation Transition

Next Tuesday, 10^th November we welcome our 2021 Foundation students to St Mary’s for their first transition session. This is always an exciting, yet sometimes daunting time for the children, however we know that they will all love St Mary’s. Foundation transition will run from 9:30am – 12:00pm on Tuesday, 10^th, 17^th and 24^th November.

Remembrance Day

Next Wednesday, 11^th November is Remembrance Day. Every year at 11:00am we pause to remember those men and women who have died or suffered in all wars, conflicts and peace operations. While this year we may not be able to mark Remembrance Day and the 75^th Anniversary of the end of World War II with traditional commemorations and gatherings, St Mary’s will still pay their respects. Some of our Senior students will create a wreath, which will be placed at the cenotaph. The children will also observe a minutes silence at 11:00am and complete a variety of activities on the day. We are all very lucky to live in such an amazing country and we have many Australian men and women to thank for that.

School Disco

Next Friday, 13^th November, we have a school disco for Fun Friday. All students can wear casual clothes on the day and if possible include some bright colours to get into the disco theme. The Junior disco will be from 11:30am-12:15pm and the Senior disco will follow from 12:15pm-1:00pm. Unfortunately parents are still unable to be onsite, however we will take lots of photos, so that you feel like you were there. I’m sure your child is excited about the disco and we are all looking forward to another fun school event.

School Photos

Over the past couple of days, you should have received your school photo envelopes. School photos will be on Wednesday, 18^th November, so please make sure you return your forms prior to this day. It is exciting that we are able to have our school photos this year, as we have had to reschedule them twice.

Tuesday 17th November - School Advisory Board Metting @ 5.15pm followed by the end of year dinner at 7.00pm at the Country Club.

Wednesday 18th November - School Photos - order packs have been sent home this week.

Wednesday 25th November - Parent/Teacher Interviews 2.00pm - 7.00pm (virtually or over the phone).

Friday 4th December -Fun Friday Colour Run

Thursday 10th December - End of Year Mass & Year 6 Graduation Lunch (More information will be sent home as we receive COVID-19 updates from Diocese of Sale Catholic Education Ltd.)

SCHOOL FEES

Reminder to families that school fees are now due unless period payments are in place.

Please contact Heather at the school office if you have any questions in regards to school fees.

Prep 2021 Enrolments

2021 Prep transition days have been scheduled for 10th, 17th & 24th November 2020. If you have a child attending Foundation level next year, enrolment forms are needed ASAP.

Enrolment application forms can be downloaded from our website - stmyarram.catholic.edu.au
or collected from our School Office between Mon- Fri 9.00am – 3:00pm

Forms can be emailed to hleemon@stmyarram.catholic.edu.au along with the extra required information attached – Birth Certificate, Immunisation Certificate and Baptism Certificate

They can also be completed and returned to our School Office – we ask that you please return your enrolments as soon as possible.

Dress up like a teacher Fun Friday

Thank you to all the students and staff for a fantastic fun Friday. To all the students I think we have some future teachers, principals, teachers aids and administration officers amongst you all.

SCHOOL UNIFORM

Leggings are not part of the school uniform and are not to be worn under school dresses or skorts. If the weather is cold students are allowed to wear their winter uniform.

School Hats must be worn at recess and lunch times in Term 4.

Parent Teacher Interview (phone or Video)

Teachers will be holding parent/teacher interviews either by phone or video call on Wednesday 25th November 2.00pm - 7.00pm. Students are not required to be part of the Parent/Teacher Interviews.

Interviews are strictly 10 minutes only. To allow for technical issues it is vital that parents keep to this schedule and end their appointments in a timely manner. If you think you will need more time, please discuss this with your teacher at the appointment.

School Photos are on Wednesday 18th November.

Photo order packs have been sent home with students this week. If you did not receive your photo order pack and family pack or misplaced them, please contact the school office as we have spares. Please return all orders with correct money by Monday 16th November.

Students are to wear their correct summer uniform with their royal blue jumper. No sports polo fleece or sports jackets are to be worn for the photos. We also ask that the students have black polished school shoes. No sneakers please.

SCHOOL ABSENCES

Parents are legally required to notify the school of any absence during the school year. This notification may be done via the school website, school app, by phone, email - hleemon@stmyarram.catholic.edu.au or in writing. When there is an unexplained absence, parents will be contacted by phone and if parents are unable to be contacted student emergency contacts will be phoned.
