Dear Parents and Friends of St Mary’s,
We congratulate Ivy and Lachlan, who received their Sacrament of Reconciliation on Tuesday evening; they are in our prayers as they go along their faith journey. Thank you to Sue and Anthony for organising the night and preparing the students for their sacrament.
We welcomed our 2024 Prep students on Tuesday for a fun-filled transition morning. Thirteen bright and happy students were engaged in a rotation of activities and tasks as they navigated their new classroom and school surroundings. We welcome them back next Tuesday for the second of three transition mornings. Thank you to the staff and students who made it a successful morning.
I am looking forward to tomorrow's Colour Fun Run with trepidation! This annual event is a highlight of our school calendar, and the students are incredibly excited about the obstacle course and its challenges. Thank you to all involved in making this event happen; your consistent support is genuinely appreciated.
Tomorrow, Friday, November 17th, Grades 5-6 are leading our liturgy, “Shine a Light on Domestic Violence.” which supports National White Ribbon Day. This critical campaign further pledges to end violence against women and girls. All are welcome to attend our Liturgy at 2:30 pm. in the junior learning space.
Maria
Thank you to our students who attended the Remembrance Day service in honour of our veterans.

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
Happy Birthday to Hudson Roberts, who celebrates his birthday on 18th November. We hope you have a wonderful day!
The Design a Plate fundraiser is still ongoing, this fundraiser gets children to draw an original painting onto a plate, which they can bring home as a personalised piece of artwork.
Each plate is $10.00.
We appreciate your help in making this program fun for the kids and thank you for your continued support.
Please note that we are limited to one plate per student.
CHRISTMAS CARDS
Every year the Diocese of Sale Catholic Education Office run a Christmas card competition which is open to all students from Prep to year 12.
Each year there is a theme to the pictures.
We are making Christmas cards using the drawings by St Mary’s Yarram students. The cards come with envelopes at a cost of $1 per card or $5 for a pack.
There is no limit to the number of cards you order.
Orders with the name of the student/s and money can be sent to the office in an envelope. We will call you when they are ready for pickup.
A sample of the cards is located in the office. There will be a picture of all the drawings available also.
Thank you for supporting our fundraiser where all money goes back into the school for our students.
CALENDARS
Calendars are for sale again this year. The calendars have photos of your child/children throughout the 2023 school year. An example of the calendar is available for viewing at the office.
Calendars cost $10 each and are a great gift for Christmas.
Religious News: Thursday the 16th of November
Thank you to the students who represented St Mary’s Catholic Primary School at the Remembrance Day Ceremony. Thank you to Lilly, Harry, Bianca, Shekinah, Jikaya, Kasharna and Makaysha. We are very proud of your commitment.
Sacrament of Reconciliation
Congratulations to Ivy and Lachlan who celebrated the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Tuesday evening. Thank you to Mr. Sheedy and the families for assisting the children in their preparation.
Combined Church Choir
Every year we join with the other Churches in Yarram and Yarram Primary School to sing Christmas Songs in December. This year the celebration is to take place on Sunday the 10th of December at 7:00pm. We have been practising our songs with Julie Papworth. Today a permission note will go home with your child/children to ask if they can attend. Please send this back to school by next Monday the 20th so we know how many children will attend. It is a beautiful celebration that brings the community together. Each year people comment on how beautifully our children sing.
Liturgy: Friday the 17th of November
Grades Five and Six will lead our School in Liturgy on Friday 17th of November at 2:30pm. All families are invited to attend. The focus for the Liturgy is Shine a light on Family Violence.
St. Mary’s Catholic Church will also celebrate a Liturgy at 5:00pm on Friday the 17th of November. Father has encouraged everyone to wear something white to the Liturgy.
Kind Regards,
Sue Benc

We would like to thank all of our parents and families for supporting Scholastic Book Club as it has earned the school points that allow us to purchase books for our library.
The Tarra Festival Committee, on behalf of the Yarram Progress Association & Tarra Tourism, is organising a colouring competition and has chosen the king parrot on the top of the Heesco water tower.
