Dear Parents and Friends of St Mary’s,
Last night, the St Mary’s staff, Fr Antony and the Advisory Board came together for a meal at The Woodside Hotel to celebrate the year working together. I would like to thank Fr Antony and the Advisory Board for supporting the staff and myself throughout the year, and I look forward to working with you in the future.
A Prayer of Remembrance
Today, we remember with thanksgiving.
Those who made the supreme sacrifice for us
in times of war.
We pray that the offering of their lives.
May not have been in vain.
Today, we dedicate ourselves to the cause of justice,
freedom and peace;
and for the wisdom and strength
To build a better world.
Amen
Our senior students will gather at the Yarram Cenotaph on Saturday morning to represent our school at this year's Remembrance Day ceremony. Thank you to those students who have made time to participate in this important event.
Maria

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
Happy Birthday to Maxwell Bowden, who celebrates his birthday on 13th November. We hope you have a wonderful day!
REMEMBRANCE DAY
Remembrance Day is on Saturday, 11th November and we have received some poppy badges, pins and other items to help raise funds for the Remembrance Day Appeal. They are available to buy from the school office if you are interested.
Your contribution to the Poppy Appeal changes the lives of our veterans and their families when they need it the most.
BOOK CLUB
Catalogue #8 of Book Club has been sent home with students. This will be our last Book Club for this year. Orders are due back by Friday, 1st December 2023.
We would like to thank all of our parents and families for supporting Scholastic Book Club as it has earned the school points that allow us to purchase books for our library.
CHRISTMAS CARDS
Every year the Diocese of Sale Catholic Education Office run a Christmas card competition which is open to all students from Prep to year 12.
Each year there is a theme to the pictures.
We are making Christmas cards using the drawings by St Mary’s Yarram students. The cards come with envelopes at a cost of $1 per card or $5 for a pack.
There is no limit to the number of cards you order.
Orders with the name of the student/s and money can be sent to the office in an envelope. We will call you when they are ready for pickup.
A sample of the cards is located in the office. There will be a picture of all the drawings available also.
Thank you for supporting our fundraiser where all money goes back into the school for our students.
CALENDARS
Calendars are for sale again this year. The calendars have photos of your child/children throughout the 2023 school year. An example of the calendar is available for viewing at the office.
Calendars cost $10 each and are a great gift for Christmas.
SCHOOL ADVISORY COMMITTEE END OF YEAR
Staff and members of our School Advisory Board and Fr. Antony met for an end-of-year dinner last night. Thank you to all our members who work behind the scenes to make our school events run so smoothly.
Religious News: Thursday the 9th of November
This Saturday is Remembrance Day. We stop, along with many other countries around the world for one minute of silence at 11:00 am, on the 11th day of the 11th month. This is in memory of the day the Armistice Agreement was signed to end World War 1. We take time to reflect on those who fought in the wars so that we may live in peace. We pray for peace not only for ourselves but for everyone in our world.

Sacrament of Reconciliation
This will be celebrated on Tuesday the 14th of November at 6:00pm in the St. Joseph’s Room. We pray for Ivy and Lachlan as they continue on their Sacramental Journey.
Preparing children for the Sacrament of Reconciliation allows us to show them that God is love and that in mercy He is always ready to forgive, no matter what the wrong. It assures them that God already knows the secrets of our hearts, but sometimes we need to name these aloud in order to prepare our hearts to renew the experience of God's love and forgiveness. It shows them that just as God is One, God dreams that we might all be one as well--one with each other and one with God. God's will is that all people will be reconciled with one another and with God. What an extraordinary gift!
Kind Regards,

SCHOOL TV - NEURODIVERSITY
Neurodiversity in children and adolescents is a concept celebrating the natural variation in how young minds work. It acknowledges that neurological differences, such as ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and giftedness, are not disabilities but unique aspects of human cognition.
The Design a Plate fundraiser is still ongoing, this fundraiser gets children to draw an original painting onto a plate, which they can bring home as a personalised piece of artwork.
Each plate is $10.00.
We appreciate your help in making this program fun for the kids and thank you for your continued support.
Please note that we are limited to one plate per student.
The Tarra Festival Committee, on behalf of the Yarram Progress Association & Tarra Tourism, is organising a colouring competition and has chosen the king parrot on the top of the Heesco water tower.
There are prizes to be won and entries will be displayed on the windows of the Future of Yarram office.
