Dear Parents and Friends of St Mary’s,
The Spring weather has provided us with a kaleidoscope of weather so far. Please ensure the students have hats in their bags for these warmer days.
This Sunday, September 1oth, we celebrate the Feast of the Nativity of Mary as a School and Parish community. We begin by Mass at 11:00 a.m., followed by a shared luncheon at the Mary MacKillop Hall. All are welcome to join us in this St Mary’s community event.
Monday, September 11th, is a school closure day for all students as the staff will engage in Religious Professional Development. As a staff, we will work on school planning and implementing our Inquiry Process through the RE curriculum To Live in Christ Jesus.
Congratulations to the students who competed in the Wellington Zone Athletics on Friday, September 1st. Bianca, Zahli, Hudson, Maxwell, Austin and Jikaya represented St Mary’s with pride and great sportsmanship.
We celebrated a wonderful Fathers’ Day Breakfast last Friday with many happy faces sharing breakfast and taking the time to chat. This annual event provides such joy as a school community; we thoroughly enjoy sharing it with you all.
Maria

WELLINGTON ZONE ATHLETICS - SALE
To celebrate Child Safety Week, we asked our students: What does it mean to feel safe at St. Mary's School? These were some of their answers:
"I feel safe at St. Mary's because the school is secure. The teachers keep us safe: Amelia (Prep)
"I feel safe playing with all my friends because everyone knows the rules": Blake (Grade 1)
The teachers are kind and helpful. If I have any worries, I can talk to the teachers: Jasper (Grade 3)
We need to walk together to the bus to stay safe. We follow our School Expectations: Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible & Be a Learner - Seamus (Grade 4)
We include everyone through our actions and words. we, as a school, make sure that we respect each other and that keeps us safe: Jikaya (Grade 5)
The teachers on duty keep us safe on the playground and remind us to play by the rules. We lead by example to the younger students, helping them to be the best they can be: Hudson (Grade 6)
Religion News: Thursday the 7th of September 2023
The Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary – September the 8th. This will be celebrated on Sunday the 10th of September at 11:00 am Mass. Thank you to all the students who have offered to sing in the choir and serve as Altar Servers. It will be lovely to join with the wider community of the St. Mary’s Parish for this important celebration. Please take time to listen to this beautiful song about Mary.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be celebrated in Term Four. A date has yet to be decided as Father has been on holidays. I expect to have the date set by early next term. The candidates for the Sacrament of Reconciliation must be baptised and in Grade Three or above.
