Dear Parents and Friends of St Mary’s,
After a wonderful Sovereign Hill experience for the Garde 5-6 students, we are back to reality. While on camp, we were treated to a light and sound show, panning for gold, a mine tour and many other exciting experiences. These opportunities for our students don’t come about without hours of planning and preparation. I would like to thank Debbie Isemann for organising and planning the itinerary. Jo Bowden for agreeing to be a parent helper on camp and Chanelle for organising the pickup and drop off of the minivan.
I would also like to thank Deb Owens for her constant support of the students in her care throughout the lead-up and over the three-day camp.
We are prepared for our Fathers’ Day Breakfast tomorrow beginning at 8 a.m. This annual event is an opportunity to share breakfast with our Fathers, Grandparents and great blokes in our lives. We look forward to welcoming you for some delicious egg and bacon muffins, toast and cereal tomorrow morning.
We wish Deb Owens a wonderful six weeks of Long Service Leave. Deb will have her final day tomorrow and then jet off to many exciting destinations. I will teach the Grade 5/6 students outside of Sue Benc on a Wednesday.
We begin Child Safety Week from September 3rd to September 10th. This week allows us to celebrate and reflect on the importance of every child’s right to feel safe, secure and heard. We will unpack child safety throughout the week and celebrate what this looks like at St Mary's Yarram.
Maria

TEACHERS AIDE WEEK 28th August - 1st September 2023
Thank you, to our wonderful Teacher's Aides, Sharon, Jo and Tracey. We all appreciate you and everything you do for us.
Religion News: Thursday the 31st of August 2023
The Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary – September the 8th.
The Catholic Church celebrates the birth of Mary, Jesus’ mother on its traditional fixed date of September the 8th, as the child of Saints Joachim and Anne.
Blessed Mary, is the patroness of St. Mary’s Parish, Yarram. At the Parish Assembly, held last year it was decided to take the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary as our Parish Feast Day, to be celebrated on the Sunday that comes closest to the actual Feast Day. Therefore, as a Parish and School, we will celebrate the Feast Day on September the 10th at 11:00 am.
Please come along and join together to celebrate the Feast Day of St. Mary’s Parish.
Kind Regards
Sue Benc
Each plate is $10.00.
We appreciate your help in making this program fun for the kids and thank you for your continued support.
Please note that we are limited to one plate per student.
The Bishop of Sale, Most Reverend Greg Bennet and Director of Catholic Education for the Diocese of Sale, Mr Paul Velten commend Catholic schools and parishes in the Diocese of Sale for their efforts to keep young people safe. Many of the projects in this video have been developed by young people with the support of their schools and parishes which reflect the Victorian Child Safe Standard 3: Student voice and empowerment.

National Child Protection Week is happening across Australia from Sunday 3 to Saturday 9 September 2023. It’s an opportunity to recognise and promote the safety and wellbeing of Australian children with the message that ‘Every child, in every community, needs a fair go’.
To support National Child Protection Week, we have resources tailored for parents and carers to help your child feel safe, supported, and connected online.
These weekend sessions are predominately aimed at families who are unable to attend our regular, weekday Storytimes.
We will celebrate Dads and Grandpas, with stories, songs & rhymes all about these important people in children’s lives.
And, we will make a crafty gift to give Dad on Sunday!
All are welcome and as with all of our library offerings, this event is free!
