Dear Parents and Friends of St Mary’s,
Yesterday we came together as a school and Parish community to celebrate Ash Wednesday, the beginning of our Lenten Journey. Fr spoke with the students about the message of Lent and how we can take the time to reflect on our actions and make some changes to make better choices so we can grow closer to God, our families and our community.
We wish Macy, Ivy, Austin, Mia, Alice, Lachlan, Hudson, Lilly, Harrison, Jikaya and Bianca all the best as they participate in the Yarram and District Swimming Carnival on Monday, Feb 27th at the Yarram Pool.
Congratulations to Ivy Sampson for receiving her Peak Award for Joey’s. Ivy completed many personal and community activities and challenges to achieve this exciting award.

Religious News: Thursday the 22nd of February 2023
We are now in the Liturgical Season of Lent. On Wednesday we celebrated a beautiful Mass with the St Mary’s Parishioners. It was led by our students at St Mary’s and the Parish Community. It was good to celebrate Mass together.
During this season of Lent, our loving God asks us to look closely at our lives so that we can see how to lift up others and bring them hope. Let us take a few minutes to think about how we have missed opportunities to be positive and inspiring and bring the light of hope into their lives. We pray that the love and guidance of Jesus will help us to open our hearts to others.
A message from Andrew Chinn. This Friday, February 24, marks one year since the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. Just over one year ago the team at Butterfly House created two songs and one prayer for the people of Ukraine. As we enter Lent, we teach our children that it is a time for prayer. May this be part of your prayer for Peace.

A Prayer for Peace.
God of Love and God of Peace,
Guided by St Francis of Assisi, we make these prayers of peace together in your name:
Lord, make us rivers of your peace:
Where there is hatred…
Let us be love
Where there is pain…
Let us forgive
Where there is doubt….
Let us be faith
Lord, make us rivers of your peace:
Where there’s despair…
Let us be hope
Where there is darkness…
Let us be light
Where there is sadness…
Let us be joy
May our prayers be joined with prayers from every land on earth, may we be as one in our prayer and our call for peace.
We ask this in the name of your Son Jesus, Prince of Peace,
Amen
Kind Regards,
Sue Benc
The process of school review is an important element of the ongoing improvement of
schools in the Diocese of Sale. This survey tool is a way for your school to examine its
practices and shared understandings as a way of identifying practices to be maintained
and strengthened, and opportunities to be addressed moving forward.
As a parent, you have an important perspective to share. Please answer each question,
rating your response on the five-point scale. Responses are anonymous and will assist
the school in its school review.

SchoolTV Special Report - Diet and Nutrition
Families today, with school-age children, have very busy schedules. This can sometimes make it hard to sit down to homemade meals every day when there is such an abundance of pre-packaged and processed food readily available. However, it is still important to teach your kids healthy eating habits. Diet and nutrition are crucial to your child’s development. Not only can it prevent many chronic diseases, but it also impacts your child’s brain development and learning abilities.
FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE MORNING TEA
Dear Parents and Families of St Mary’s.
We would like to invite you all to a brief morning tea, at 11.30am on Friday 24th of February, 2023 in the staff room to discuss fundraising ideas for St Mary’s.
We are wanting to involve as many parents and families as possible in the organisation
of school fundraising events throughout 2023. Looking for fresh ideas and faces.
Without your ongoing support, this would not be possible.
We understand that some of you might have work commitments etc, if you are keen but cannot make the above date please call and let us know of your interest. As any small amount of your time would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks,
St Mary’s fundraising team.
