Dear Parents and Friends of St Mary’s,
We have had a wonderful week of swimming at the Yarram pool, with the weather being simply divine. The students have shown significant improvement in their abilities since our last week of swimming at the end of 2022.
I would like to thank Heather Flynn for the enormous amount of work organising this program for the students and the staff who willingly get into the pool to take small groups.
Please remind your children that they are to use the crossing on Commercial Rd (Yarram Primary) to access their way home. The Gippsland Highway is too busy and dangerous for students to cross at the hospital crossing opposite St Mary’s.
We will be conducting Parent and Student Conferences Tuesday, February 21st beginning a 2:00 pm. Please follow the booking details in the newsletter. These conferences are a wonderful opportunity to meet with your child and teacher to discuss learning and celebrate achievements.
Kind Regards,
Maria

A big Thank You to all our staff members who helped make this evening so pleasant.
FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE MORNING TEA
Dear Parents and Families of St Mary’s.
We would like to invite you all to a brief morning tea, at 11.30am on Friday 24th of February, 2023 in the staff room to discuss fundraising ideas for St Mary’s.
We are wanting to involve as many parents and families as possible in the organisation
of school fundraising events throughout 2023. Looking for fresh ideas and faces.
Without your ongoing support, this would not be possible.
We understand that some of you might have work commitments etc, if you are keen but cannot make the above date please call and let us know of your interest. As any small amount of your time would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks,
St Mary’s fundraising team.
Religious News: Thursday the 16th of February 2023
Lent is a 40-day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends at sundown on Holy Thursday. It's a period of preparation to celebrate the Lord's Resurrection at Easter. During Lent, we seek the Lord in prayer by reading Sacred Scripture; we serve by giving to those less fortunate than ourselves through action and we practice self-control through fasting. Lent symbolises the time that Jesus spent in the desert, praying and fasting.
Kind Regards,
Sue Benc
SchoolTV Special Report - The Wellbeing Barometer - 2023
Last year proved to be yet another challenging year. The ongoing impact of the pandemic, the continuing war in Ukraine, humanitarian crises, the rising cost of living, unprecedented flooding and growing social polarisation and the ever-present threat of climate change, has impacted and overwhelmed many families who are trying to recover, rebuild and adjust to a new kind of "normal".

To reduce disruption to primary schools, Catholic College Sale will hold an information evening on Thursday 23 February 2023.
Interested families will be required to book a time for the information evening and tour. The sessions and tours will be approximately 60 minutes duration. It is hoped that this process will assist families in making informed decisions about appropriate secondary education for their child.
Catholic College Sale enrolments will open on Friday 24 February 2023, and first-round offers will close on Thursday 9 March 2023.
All relevant information is available on the Catholic College Sale website: www.ccsale.catholic.edu.au This includes an online Enrolment Form, online Information Booklet and Enrolment Policy.
I ask that you emphasize to your families that in 2022 Catholic College Sale could not place all families requesting a Year 7 placement and therefore it is important to have their application in by 24 February 2023. The College will only move to a second-round offer if all placements are not filled.
Interviews of all applicants will take place on 29th, 30th and 31st of March 2023.
