Dear Parents and Friends of St Mary’s,
Thank you to the staff and students for managing the incident regarding the stranger danger yesterday morning. All child safety protocols were implemented as we sought support from Yarram police. Please take the time to chat with your child/children and reiterate the importance of stranger awareness and what to do when faced with such situations.
Tomorrow we come together for our Colour Fun Run at 11 am. As mentioned in the previous newsletter, students are to bring with them.
- Plastic bag/ swimming bag
- Change of clothes.
- Underwear
- Towel
- Change of shoes
- Hat
- Drink bottle
- Please name all items
A hotdog lunch will be provided, and an icy pole. Hot lunches will still be available if your child likes something other than hotdogs.
Swimming begins Monday, December 5th, and this is a wonderful week that allows the children to familiarise themselves with water safety, survival and swimming techniques.
Please ensure that all clothing items, school hats and drink bottles are named, and appropriate bags allow the students to carry wet swimming gear back to school.

Advent:

The Sunday we light the Second Advent Candle. It is purple in colour and it symbolises Peace. Christmas is about celebrating the arrival and birth of the ‘Prince Of Peace.” The second candle is also referred to as the Bethlehem Candle which is a reminder to us of the journey Mary and Joseph took to Bethlehem, the city of Jesus’ birth.
A Prayer for Peace
Prayer of St. Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O, Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
it is in dying that we are born again to eternal life.
Advent Liturgy: Peace
Our Second Advent Liturgy will be led by Grades Three and Four at 2:00 pm on Monday the 5th of December. Parents and families are welcome.
Kind Regards,
Sue Benc
