SENIOR CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES
May is National Family Reading Month and families are asked to make reading a priority and a part of their daily routine by reading together on all 31 days.
Remember to fill in your Reading Logs and return them to school so reading nights can be added to your Term 2 tally.
Next Wednesday on May 19th, over 1 million children across Australia and New Zealand will listen simultaneously to the story
“GIVE ME SOME SPACE!” , by Philip Bunting which will be read by an astronaut from the International Space Station.
All students at St. Mary’s will participate in this very exciting event.
Yesterday students in the Senior Team were read approx 3/4 of the story and then asked to create their own version of the last 4 pages, to conclude the story.
The story is about a young girl Una, who dreams of being an astronaut and sets off to explore space and search for life amongst the stars.
“In the distance, something caught Una’s eye. Shining in the light of a nearby star, a tiny blue speck seemed to shimmer as if it were alive” ……………………..
Below are some of the ideas that students started planning around.
