The third "rock" or major planet from the sun is called Earth-and YOU can call it home. As far as anyone knows, the Earth is the ONLY planet where people and plants and animals can live. Some 70 percent of the Earth is covered by water, and it has one natural satellite called the MOON-but you knew that, didn't you?
Did you ever go to a planetarium to see how your home planet is different from other planets and how they all move around in the atmosphere, the stratosphere, the thermosphere, the ionosphere, and so forth? It's amazing to see how God put all that together.
Today many people think your home planet needs help because the people who live here have been wasting a lot of things and mistreating the planet. Maybe you could make a Save-the-planet poster or maybe you could have a Planet-Savers Contest with your family and friends.
See who can think up the most ideas of things to do to help the planet. For example, you could walk or ride short distances to save fuel, recycle cans, newspappers and hard plastics.
